Thanksgiving has come and passed, but the stress of the holidays is certainly still upon us. Amidst the hustle and bustle of preparing your home, packing for travel, shopping for gifts, it’s important to remember the reason for the season: to have fun and to celebrate. Set yourself up for success this holiday season.
Here are some ways to do exactly that during this stressful, but exciting, time:
Many people stress about money during the holidays, but by setting a budget you can make sure that your spending doesn’t get out of hand.
No matter what your version of self-care looks like, you’re sure to be out of routine during the holidays. By setting aside time for self-care, you’ll mitigate the effects being out of your routine may have on your physical & mental health.
In addition to self-care, it’s important to focus on what makes you happy during the holidays. Would having a Christmas party with friends bring more joy to you than attending the annual holiday company party? Grab a few friends and have a great night in, surrounded by people who build you up. No matter what it is that would make you feel good during the holidays, do that!
Remember that no matter how many plans you make and how perfectly you’ve set everything, things will likely NOT go according to plan. Set this expectation from the beginning, so you don’t get flustered and upset when things inevitably need to be shifted around.
Take time to do something nice for someone else. While it’s important to take time for yourself, it can be extremely beneficial to put your own struggles into perspective. Take the time to do something nice for someone else. It is the season of giving, after all!
Remember that giving and celebrating is the reason for the season. It’s going to go by so quickly, so make sure to try to set yourself up for success and focus on the moments that you’ll want to cherish and remember. Also, don’t forget I’m here to help!
